It would be nice to be able to identify the different butterflies. I hope I get good shots this year when I go.
SilenasImages,
I just tried to ID some mushroom and failed miserably. I better try 'labeled' butterflies if I'm going to start a new collection. I only post known subjects on my web site although I could use the mushrooms in my desktop wallpaper / background section.

Happy you like the photos. Magic Wings is a great place. I try to get there once a year. I'm always interested in the different lenses that people use. I've seen great shot from Point & Shots & crappy shots from high end SLRS. My photography teacher used to say " It's not the camera that makes a great shot, it's the photographer."

SilenasImages,
I'll use the Magic Wings as another excuse to go to Mass. again sometime. It would be nice to get the IDs along with the butterfly photos.

I'm looking forward to the Lumix DMC-FZ18. I should manage to get some decent wildlife photos with it. I can't count how many times I could have used a zoom of that power.

I've been bouncing around your blog & I have to tell your how much I like your photography. Pleas tell me what lens your are using to when you are photographing close-ups thanks

SilenasImages,
Thank goodness there's something to like. I won't be getting any awards for my writing.

The camera is a Sony DSC-S85. It's about 3 - 4 years old with 4.1 mp and a Carl Zeiss, Vario - Sonnar lens. As you can see it does a pretty good job in macro mode, not bad for an old point and shoot digital camera.

The bad/good news is the Sony just died and I have to buy a new camera. This time I decided to get a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 with the 18x zoom. I'm moving up but still short of a SLR.
