Bad Hair Day

2009
Sep 2

My stars, where did you ever get that awful hairdo?
…Bug Bunny

I’ll hug you and squeeze you and call you Spike
Hairy Black Fly

I was vainly attempting to photograph the bees at the Autumn Joy party when Spike buzzed in.

Punk Fly

Spike is about the size of a bumblebee. Now that’s a big a$$ fly.

Goth Fly

I wasn’t going to get lucky at the sedum. The bees were scampering over the flower tops too fast to get a focus on so I moved to the Ligularia by the pond. The complex flowers have a way of making the bee stand still for a second.

Flower and Bee Fusion

Bee on Ligularia flower

A grasshopper hugging a Jewelweed stem caught my attention next.

Grasshopper

Odd looking climbing boots if you ask me

Grasshopper

I took a great shot of a frog in the pond yesterday and wanted to see if I could get another. Staring eye to eye with my prey I snapped this shot off. I liked yesterdays photo better but this one has it’s own special effect.

Hypno-Frog

Elmer Fudd Frog Eyes

I did get more frog portraits but this post is already fully loaded with images. May be I’ll post them tomorrow.

As usual images are linked to larger copies

Goodness, grasshoppers look like aliens close up. The American toads are still singing near the creek near my house. I love the froggie photos and want more.

The fly looks so ugly, luckily there is no staring eye to eye with this.

Elmer looks worried. I might be, too, if that frog was looking at me like that.
