bear warning

Feb 7

I found this warning sign on the interwebs. It looks official enough and the advise seems sound but the last line should make you wonder how effective it really is.

bear warning sign

I suggest not hiking alone. You know the old saying about being faster than the other guy when confronted by a predator. The pepper spray is much more effective in those situations if you use it on a friend.

Another way to tell the difference between a black bear and a grizzly. When you climb a tree the black bear will climb up after you. Grizzlies can’t climb. They will however shake the tree until you fall out. Coming from a born and bred BC girl 🙂

In the Adirondack Mtns of NY we have black bears that grow big enough for me..one time while on a rare golf outing up in those mtns (not fond of golf) I happened upon a large pile of feces that was still warm…I was told it was from a bear and we had better move back on the green and away from the edges of the green where it was…bears were frequently spotted on the golf course there…I make it a point to give bears lots of room and look from a far…very far!!

I am lucky not to have bear at my place. Wonder how effective the spray is on those monkeys when they try to snatch something from us.

I attempted to read this to Meg, took 5-6 tries as I kept breaking out laughing!!

I’ve seen this one before, but it never fails to amuse! I’ll take black bears over grizzlies any day.

I saw this sign a couple of months ago, and love it. Too funny…well, unless they were your bells 😛
