The black and white face on the calves is just the markings you get when you crossbred a Hereford and an Angus. The face gets half its color from the mother, the white (hereford) and the other half, the black from the father. (angus) The pattern changes every time, its called a brockel faced calf.

Duck...duck...goose! I bet that mallard has quite a reputation after breaking the "goose barrier" (or maybe they're ostracized for being a bi-species couple?) Or is that bi-order? Bi-phylum? I slept through zoology! :) I miss working with cows too, especially the hard work! I had way more energy then, guess the more you use, the more you have. Now I need a nap...

Lisa,
I think the goose was easy - A Scarlet Honker.
I miss the cows but not the work. And speaking of naps ...zzzzz

I don't know about the black Hereford. But I understand the red ones have some type of eye trouble.

Mom wait for me.

Coffee is on.

peppylady,
I didn't know Herefords had eye problems. Maybe I shouldn't get in sight?
