OMG that is way too much work but looks like a worthy enterprise — if I was 20 years younger. Naw, I think I’d hire someone to move rocks — and I know you are a busy man and at the moment, no need for your services.

Thanks for the insight tho — it was good info.. especially the sweat, swear and goof off part.

    Bamapat,
You got it right. The best way to move a boulder is to find some idiot to do it for you.

I should have put a caption on the duck tape photo. “keep fooling around with me and you’re going to need this”

So this was about moving a rock? Not cool garden statue has been delving into the shed for art objects? And statue on porch is the cheerleader? I salute you.

    Frances at Faire Garden

    Frances,
I’m sorry I missed the whimsy theme. The rock was just a whim. I thought the garden needed another and I was determined to get it there.
Those garden statues are a bit too much for me. I get an eerie almost morbid feel from them. I just had to lighten them up a bit :) I should have put captions on them. ‘You’re going to need this if you keep fooling around’ would have been good for the duct tape photo. The one with the bar should have been ‘you know where he owners are going to stick this if they catch you?’

If you haven’t been to Faire Garden lately I suggest getting out of here and go look at her whimsical garden faces.

That is a lot of work. You could have moved it in one step if you had hired someone else to do it. ;0)

    MBT,
Moving a boulder isn’t as hard as outsmarting it. I would have had someone else move it but I was the only one listed in the Yellow Pages under Idiot.

IMHO you didn’t goof off nearly enough for a rock that large… unless of course you did, but it wasn’t all captured on camera.

I sure hope that there was a lot of sweating and swearing to make up for the lack of goofing off. ;)

    (In other words, good job!)

    Kim,
It really is easier that it looks. The sweat was due to the high heat and humidity, just standing in the sun that day was enough to get soaked. (paper towels = clean glasses) The swearing is only for the inexperienced who haven’t learned how to outsmart a rock.

  5. Mr. McGregor's Daughter Says:

LOL – those statues are better than porch geese for dressing up potential. Most people around here cheat when they move boulders – a backhoe or a bobcat. Do you ever get the feeling that you might be descended from the pyramid builders?

    Mr. McGregor’s Daughter,
I’ve got to take a brown paper bag and put it over the sitting statues head. I’ll get a closeup of her sometime and you’ll see why.
Everyone ‘smart’ cheats when it comes to moving boulders. But then they can’t get them to places I can. Pyramid builders? Nope. The balls of string and wads of lint in my safety deposit box are a bigger clue that I’ve evolved from a long line of village idiots or possibly watched too much Monty Python.

  6. Country Girl Says:

You only need to use step six once? I don’t think I could do it. I could handle the goofing off part though.

    Country Girl,
We can skip step six and move right to goofing off if you want to help.
