Ligularia gone to seed

Fuzzy Bubbles

At least that’s what they looked like to me when I first glanced at the pond garden. And now that I said it I can’t help but to imagine what would happen if the Muppets took over the Lawrence Welk Show. Anyway I think it best if we say out of my head and get to the subject. These are the seed heads of the Ligularia in my garden. (Look at my header image to see the flowers)

A closer look reveals a dandelion seed head resemblance. The seeds themselves are just waiting for a stiff breeze to carry them away at this point. Soon they’ll just fall off wind or not, I didn’t need to do anything more than touch them in order for the seed to drop.

It was tough getting a photo of the seeds. They kept blowing off my hand in the slight breeze there was. The only thing in the yard lighter and more prone to getting blown away is my brain. Good thing it’s protected by a bone bubble so I can’t get my hands on it to play with..

Ligularia seeds

The pond garden needs no more Ligularia. It’s filled in nicely by seeding itself. The only thing more prolific in that garden is the Jewelweed. I didn’t collect any Jewelweed seed but if anyone wants some Ligularia seed it’s not too late.

I wish I knew the names of all the plants like you do. I usually say “Isn’t that pretty” or “Wow I really like those.”

    mimmylynn,
That knowledge didn’t come easy. It took years of repeating myself and that didn’t help so much. What really did the trick is writing it down. My original web site was created as a ‘reminder’ for a friend and myself. Between us we kept saying things like ‘you know the one with the big leaves and yellow flowers‘ or even worst ‘ you know the one I had a couple years ago in the front yard by the short one that died
