Summer Daydreams

Join Green Thumb Sundays

Winter is getting a bit old now and I’m starting to daydream about summer days. Hot August days that make you wish for winter. Days that make you hide in the shade. Temperatures that drive you to cool water. Sun stroke before freezer burn.

Heuvelton Bridge

Sneezeweed

A day like one in the photo. Wading in cool water. Soaking up sunshine. Taking it slow and easy. Keeping my cool while taking photos.

And what could make a good day better? Finding flowers of course. I’m not sure if these where a garden escapee or native but either way it was a pleasant surprise discovering Sneezeweed along the shore.

A picture perfect day.

I guess it all depends on the local weather. I much prefer this time of year and dread summer! The photos are a nice memory of summer. I love the flower photo!
    Happy GTS,

    Aiyana,
I spent a year near Parker so I know what you mean. Summer heat in Arizona can be brutal. Here in NNY it’s the humidity that gets you. Either way it’s best to get in the water – whether it’s a irrigation canal or small river.

The photo was the only thing I took home. I have many wildflower transplants but they only come from my or friends property. I debated digging these up since the ice flows in spring would gouge them out of the river bank. In the end I left them since I didn’t have permission.

The good news is that I think winter is about half over for me. I’m looking foward to spring, too!

Ah, Spring, how sweet the sound but hey, didn’t that furry animal see his bloody shadow and we got more winter? Ya, we needed to be reminded.

Oh Spring and summer will get here soon enough and then we can listen to folks gripe about the heat. In the meantime, get out and enjoy the beauty of winter — come on, it’s pretty amazing. Loved the phots and reminders of warmer days tho!

Hah…we’ll have winter, (the dreaded, interminable FARCH has begun) then we’ll have MUD, (the fifth season in Atlantic Canada), and we’ll get around to having spring sometime in late May. If it doesn’t snow. Or have a killing frost. Or rain for a week.

Thank the gods, whatever incarnation you might choose, for garden blogs, pretty pictures, and other e-escapes!

    Ginni,
Thank you for stopping by. I’ll be back to your site looking for more of your photos

    Carol,
Well it’s the nearness of spring that sets me off in a downward spin. The good news is I’ll be traveling downstate soon to do some gardening in “warmer” temps.

    Bamapat,
You should know I always complain. It’s either too cold, too hot, too wet or too nice to work.

    jodi,
arrgh – mud season. We have that too in NNY. I miss our old hilltop place where mud was kept at bay and spring arrived sooner.

Small world – I had a friend over the other day who is from NS. We went through your photos and she figured you live across the bay from her.

Your Sneezeweed photo is very nice. I love growing them, it is an underused perennial to me.
