Sunken Sandstone Patio

Forget manufactured block and pavers. Real stone might be harder to work with but it makes all the difference between ‘that’s nice and ‘Holy Cow! Batman’.

Regular visitors will recognize this pic of the stone waiting to be used.

After 8 days the scene looks like this. Where did all the stone go?

patio project

Some went into steps, some into the wall and the rest is just going to lay flat on the ground.

Looking at the first photo you’d think I had enough stone to build a patio that faded into the horizon. But you’d be wrong.

unfinished patio

I’m just about out of stone. I should have enough to finish but I’m not going as far as I had originally planned. That wall ate stone like there was no tomorrow. I’ll have just enough to make it up to the rough steps.

Needless to say I’m one tired little turtle. Now you can see why I have hardly posted lately.

Tired Turtle

Another week and I can get off the treadmill.

duck

I’m going to duck work for at least a few days.

I would like to pay you a visit when it is ready, in my dream.
Tired like turtle? Turtle travels slow and steady that never reveals its tiredness. It should have enjoyed life. Same to you, to my belief.

No kidding, Holey Cow, Batman! Geez you must be more then a tired turtle.
You are an awesome creative individual who deserves a day or two off! Better add a cold beer or two with that too!
The duck in the picture looks like a young wood duck. Rare picture to capture if so. My woodduck will pose for photos on rare occasions but she doesn’t like it(-:

I love it! I want a patio just like that one when I grow up! Lovely design, I hope hat happens to be in your yard and not someone else’s.. Have a beer, tell ‘em I said you could:-D

Oh, I suffer from slate envy! We have no lack of rock up here on my mountain, but it’s mostly basalt and related igneous round potato-like rock. There’s slate on the South mountain, along with granite, but that’s across the Valley and hubby growls if I put rocks in the car…especially after he’s cleaned it. So I’ll just drool quietly over your patio work, and hope you don’t get on the treadmill with the turtle!

Holy Hangnails! Are you moving those all around by hand? You seriously have to stop this. You are contributing to the degeneration of my morals. I am JEALOUS.

How come no one has mentioned the turtle in the lower left corner of the duck picture?

  8. Joy Says:

Ok … now I know what you must look like “POPEYE” ?? LOL
I wish I could afford you to work for me .. heck I wish I could afford the rock .. wait … when the lottery kicks in .. will you work for me even if you have to dodge the border patrol ?? hehehe
    Great pictures : )
P.S. You keep daring me and I keep doing this !
