Sunset to Moonrise
The sky looked promising from the hole I live in. The clouds were striking and there was plenty of color in the sky. So hoping to get a nice sunset photo I went down to the Morley bridge. Strange how a mile and a few minutes changes things and by the time I got on the bridge the color had faded.
Still it wasn’t a wasted trip since I did get a decent photo of the river. I next tried to get a different perspective on the old Morley mill by walking out on the river ice. That plan too was thwarted. The recent warm weather had foiled my plans. So all I was left with was a shot of the ice and snow from the river’s edge. It looks like I’ll have to wait for summer and wade the river before I can get a photo of the mill from the spot I was thinkinf of.
At least I got a pic of part of the mill. These old gears were removed long ago and left to rust.
Having got my photo fix of the day I went home to upload the photos on my computer. In the process I checked the weather and learned that the full moon was about to rise. Back out I went and just in time. I managed to get a couple of shots before the moon was hidden by the clouds.
In case you’re wondering – this is the photo I’ve set as my desktop background.

Gorgeous as always. I really like the picture of the ice and snow from the edge of the river. It’s almost surreal.

Wiseacre, You should contemplate uploading some of your work to http://www.wunderground.com Most of the stuff on there is not as good as, and certainly no better than, what you’re doing. Let the entire world rejoice in your efforts. (Of course they can now, but they probably have a larger viewership.)

You have stolen the full moon which I saw yesterday. It was so beautiful. I am going to get it back tonight. You have no way to refuse.

I stopped for awhile trying to take pictures of the moon after it begins to get dark. My results haven’t been anything I’d be happy to put on my site. Those gears look like something my dad would collect. He loves stuff like that.

Nice shots! I like the gears too…something about old rusty things is highly decorative IMO. (Of course I’m not altogether right, either

Wow, these are just marvelous. I seem to lack the gene for taking good sky shots with the moon or sun in them. Very wonderful winter sky…but I am getting tired of winter too.

Dear Mr. WiseA**
I have let a time lapse happen when checking up on you with these gorgeous pictures ! .. I have taken a few for wallpaper (as you said we could, right ?) .. You are doing something right with or without a tripod sir because your pictures are truly beautiful .. if I do “melt” and get a new camera .. I better justify it with pictures at least half the quality you manage ! Did you say Bugs or Daffy is your agent ????? : )
