dean... The only way we know of to stop snakeroot is cut them out, usually by hand, since they grow in rough, rocky terrain under trees. We have a cattle farm in the Missouri Ozarks, and during a dry Fall, we really have to worry about the cows eating the snakeroot, since it can be the only green thing around. We believe we have lost cows to snakeroot in the past. We have even kept our milk cows up in the barn corrals in the Fall to be sure we don't get the toxins passed on to us in the milk. Kinda scary to have to treat such a pretty plant with such concern!

So that's what it is.
I have snakeroot literally inundating my woods and the border of my lawn area. I mean they have taken over.
Nice because they produce a nice white background but man, I cannot believe how fast they spread. Based on this years coverage they will be the only plant under the treee's next year.
How can I stop or slow them down?
Glad I don't have any cows.
