Winter Moss
Green at last. It’s not much but after a constant blanket of white covering everything it certainly is a welcome sight at this time of year. Having cabin fever helps but it’s not necessary in order to appreciate the sight. How can you not like this mini moss garden on a rock?
Pixie cups reveal that lichen is growing hidden among the moss.

Now here was a real surprise. Hard to believe some moss is already producing those fruiting whatchamacallits.

Seeing snow and moss spore pods at the same time is a new one for me. Not the best shot but at least it’s proof that i seen them.

My moss is much too simple, seldom surprises me.
To see yours is good enough, somehow.

It’s interesting to see the green, almost tropical appearing moss contrasted against the snow. (I was going to say juxtaposed but didn’t want to look up the spelling, nor to sound stuffy.) Up close, it looks like a little world of its own.

I have to say Mother Nature made a fine job of designing that mini moss garden. The composition is perfect !
Will you start making widescreen versions of your desktop wallpapers soon ? ( monitors have evolved ya know…

I have liked pixie cups ever since I first saw them here, so these are a treat. I’ve been trying to develop an eye for seeing them better, but I still have yet to see any for myself. One of these days I’ll get to see on of my own.

I like the mini moss garden and I think anything green is welcomed! I liked your idea of the picket sign on our snowman….:)
Those are great photos.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, WOW. Love it!
Those first two photos looks like the underwater gardens of Takashi Amano.
